Walking is healing

For the longest time I wanted to be a runner, as a matter of fact back when my cardiologist said “loose weight” I decided that running was going to be my choice for “loosing weight”, first because I really thought runners were badasses
and second because my husband was one of them 😆
As soon as I started I had to stop. The pain in my knees was so bad, I was in tears. After doctor’s appointments and X-rays, the diagnosis was “runners knee” 🙄 how ironic. Basically the IT band in my legs is so tight that running causes inflammation causing a lot of pain in my knees.
Fast forward to the last couple of months... I started walking, which it doesn’t seem like much but it is a lot. I already do strength training, but walking 🚶🏻♀️ is targeting different muscles in my body and there is a lot of healing from walking. I have experienced that in the last couple of months.
I don’t, and you don’t have to be a marathon runner to experience the benefits of going outside ☀️ or jumping in your treadmill and walk. Today we walk a little over a 5k (3.15
miles)
and in a couple of weeks I’m going to walk The 30 Day Breakaway 5k benefiting
