I did it! I ran my first 15k!!

Amazing experience running this year’s Houston Hot Chocolate 15k! I enjoyed everything about it.

Starting with the expo the day before at the Minute Maid Park in Downtown Houston, kudos for choosing such an amazing place. Enjoyed every minute of it, I got my package, The swag is just amazing! The jacket is super comfy and it was perfect to run in it because it was 32° the morning of the race. I visited different tables with great information, did some shopping, enjoyed the spectacular views of the baseball field. And it smell delicious because they had chocolate, marshmallows and hot chocolate every where.

What an emotional roller coaster this was for me. The whole week leading to the race I was so worried about my knee, but I continued to train and do all the things to make sure I was ready for it.

Race day I was nervous, it was my first 15k.

Everything was very organized and very well put together. Race started right on time.

I truly enjoyed the race course. You start at the heart of downtown and make it all the way to Memorial park. Very nice views of the buildings, city life and of the parks. Aid stations were well situated and the energy of the volunteers was contagious, they had hydration drinks, marshmallows, water, energy gummies, very well thought.

The weather was actually super nice, clear skies and sunny.

Even tho I was worried, with every mile that I completed I kept surprising myself.

My husband was an amazing support, he ran with me the whole time, he distracted me with showing me the surroundings, he faced time my family so they would cheer on me, the love that he poured on me was absolutely incredible.

When I saw the finish line and I couldn’t believe it, I sprinted with all I had left and I left my husband behind.

I got another PR! my 10k time improved by 30 minutes. I’m not sure what’s happening but I like it and I’m going to keep going

The celebration at the end was absolutely fantastic. Great big green area to sit, relax, enjoy the music and of course the amazing hot chocolate and s’mores they had for each runner. I’m so thankful that I was given the opportunity to run in this race, I had the best time. Loved the course around the Sam Houston Park, I recommend 💯👍🏼 beautiful views of downtown, and Memorial Park, just amazing. See you next year for more hot chocolate!
