Hard to share but here it is, this is my #backonmyfeet story and why I want to help and share about this great organization.
When I was 10 my mom, sister and I had to escape the abusive and scary living situation we had with my dad. My dad had an addiction to alcohol, which made him very aggressive and abusive. One morning while he was at the local bar we gather what we could and we left. We didn’t tell anyone, I didn’t say goodbye to my friends (many years later I reconnected with them via FB 🙂).
My brother who had recently married welcomed us to his place. The three of us shared a bed in his apartment. We worked hard to keep going, to have a place and to build a future. For me fitness and running had given me a purpose to help as many people as I can and I absolutely love it.
Back on My Feet is a national organization operating in 14 major cities across the US, that combats #homelessness through the power of running and fitness. We all have different stories and getting back on your can be challenging. Challenge yourself and support this cause with me.
The race will kickoff on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
